10-Jul-2009 – Apparently the time to try the Arctic tundra is in the winter with skis or snowmobiles. In summer, the frozen ground turns to bog and lakes! We managed to get to within 2 kms of the confluence by UAZ, 4x4 truck and two quads. Then 2 difficult hours in the swamp/close trees with lots of mosquitoes to hit the confluence. Navigation was easy (flat, no major features), but the closely packed coniferous trees, and treacherous ground made life difficult.
We completed our adventure by continuing north to Nordkapp before returning to Belgium. More details of the expedition can be see at www.prepare2go.com.
