21-Aug-2001 -- This confluence is situated just slightly west of the Queensland – Northern Territory border, 15 kilometres southwest of the small town of Camooweal. The nearest town in the Northern Territory, Tennant Creek, is 450 km away. The confluence point is 9 kilometres south of the Barkly Highway where it crosses the border. I found a track on the western side of the border that took me to within 3 kilometres of the point which is situated in a large area of Mitchell grass plains. This makes for an easy approach but there isn’t much you can say about a treeless plain.
Red kangaroos and dingoes are abundant in this country. The only landuse in these parts is cattle grazing and the properties are vast. Here, an 800 square mile property is considered small.
