(visited by Lorenzo Respighi, Athos Ghiringhelli and Antonella Spada)

03-Jan-2004 -- We had a wonderful trip to Libya organized by African Adventures with 14 people on 7 off-road cars. Great landscapes and a lot of sand but even a particularly cold weather. In the night it reached even minus 4°C. We really recommend Libya to people that like desert. Unfortunately we couldn't find any Confluence in Libya (would have been the first one for this country!). But Athos, going back to Libya in March, has promised to get the first Confluence of this country!

Instead, we reached this point in Tunisia coming back from our Libyan trip. This Confluence is exactly beside the Road Nr. 1 going North-South by the sea. We were Athos and Antonella (from Switzerland) and Lorenzo (from Italy). The picture showing South was taken up the bridge to show the landscape from there.

  Notes
I passed this Confluence in a Jeep on a tour from Hammamet to Douz on April 3, 2002. When I later had a look at the tracklog of my GPS 12, I noticed that we must have driven almost over the Confluence itself. The closest trackpoint I have is 33°59.95'N 10°00.008'E, which gives a distance of around 94 m. Thus, the Confluence is obviously right next to the Autoroute 1 between La Skhira and Gabès, and is therefore very easily accessible. Some houses (a small village) are located on the road very close to the Confluence. (Information provided by Bernd Kuemmerlen)
