06-Feb-2005 -- Greg Holmes and Lee Walker set out for this confluence from Cairns at noon on a wet Sunday. The drive in was as described in Brian Smith's attempt. Take the road to Dimbular and take the turn-off towards Mt Mulligan. The road soon turns to dirt and is corrugated in some places.
We parked 2.7km away from the confluence at S16 59.092 E145 01.196 and set off in the rain. The confluence is in bush land but the going is quiet easy for the first few hundred metres. Then you have to climb up and down the steep sides of several large hills and skirt around ridges etc. Luckily when we went it was quite cool, I wouldn't want to do this one in the heat!
Because of the hills and because you can't walk straight to the confluence, we estimate our walk was about 8km return. The ground is crumbly in some places and both of us fell down on the walk. Especially Greg who really came a cropper walking out and nearly sconed his head on a rock! The confluence is on the side of a hill in thick scrub. We got there at about 4pm. There's no sign of anything human and on the walk there are some spectacular views. The area is very quite and there are a lot of wallabies.
