25-Aug-2001 -- I left it a bit late in the day to tackle this confluence point after chasing 19°S 139°E through spinifex, but since I had to drive past to get home I made an attempt. This confluence is located on Yelvertoft, a large grazing property between Mt Isa and Camooweal. It is 23 kms north of the Barkly Highway and 23 kms off the road I was traveling on from my last successful confluence. Hoping to make 5/5 successful attempts for my northwest trip, I tried to find my way on tracks that didn’t match the map.
With the light fading I eventually found myself 2.7 kilometres from my destination with impenetrable scrub blocking my path. But 5 kilometres further on I found a cleared fenceline that ran back toward the confluence. Racing along the stony track to catch the sun’s last light, I was pleased to come out only 80 metres from the point and even more pleased to find that a recent bushfire had reduced the spinifex grass and wattle scrub to something much easier to walk in.
