05-Jul-2012 -- I'd planned a confluence for 7 years or so and plans always fell through, this one was planned only a week or so before leaving Perth. We'd driven past Fitzroy on th eway north and planned to double back after completeing the Gibb River Rd, so on 5 July we set off from Willare road house some 230km to the East of Fitzroy Crossing at 9:00am, we had a Tyre delaminate about 33 kms east of Fitzroy. Having repaired that we set off to find Fossil Downs Station which I believed the confluence was on, I'd arranged to meet John the Station owner. We arrived at Fossil downs about 1:30 and spoke with John showing him where we wanted to go, "you'll never get there!" too far out. However on close inspection and discussion he realised we could and kindly drew us a mud map.

The anticipation grew as we got closer, Oops to far north kids distracted me, turn around and 100m south we parked on 18 degrees south, 126 east should be just over there! With that out of the car and with little rt on my shoulders we go searching for the point. Wow all zero's on the GPS What a Buzz!!!!

It was a long way out, about 25kms. The area was sparsely treed with a view to a range to the east. Bird life was amazing, John told us he works hard at keeping the ferals down and his work had paid off we saw budgies, bustards, finches, quail and others everywhere. Beautiful place to be I know why John has stayed. Well one thing off the bucket list!

Thanks to John from Fossil downs for giving us access, 1 great bloke.
