30-Jul-2002 -- After having loaded 1,300 tons of turkey MDM (mechanically deboned meat) in
Lorient we left this port today at 3 p.m. with the assistance of a tug.
Leaving the port of Lorient we passed the gigantic submarine base, built by the Germans between 1942 and
1944.
Overtaking a sardine fishing boat we headed towards
the open sea with destination Vlissingen in The Netherlands.
Shortly before arriving at the confluence we met the Dutch schooner
"Oosterschelde".
The confluence is situeted 11,1 km WSW of a small island,
Île de Sein. On Île the Sein there is a village,
farther in the West we see the prominent lighthouse,
and in the extreme West there are several rocky islets.
The confluence we met with quite satisfactory accuracy for
the rough weather prevailing.
Our passengers, Werner, Thomas, David and Anika will disembark in Vlissingen in order to resume their regular
life ashore.
