15-May-2005 -- We decided to visit this CP after we had been to the Forrest Rally at Nannup. This was the first round of the 2005 Australian Rally Championship.
34s-116e is 22k from Nannup heading towards Bridgetown. Following the arrow on the GPS we turned left of the main road on to a track that ended at a new farm house under construction. The spot was still over 1k away, past a house on a hill. Gilbert came out from the new building to meet us and we asked him how we could get to the house on the hill.
He gave us directions and then I told him about the confluence. He was very interested and he said that he would come to. So he got his wife Marilyn, and told us to follow him. They were on a quad bike, and took off straight across the paddocks. This was not the way that I was just told how to get to the house on the hill.
When we arrived at the house on the hill Gilbert introduced us to the owners,Kate and Nick. They knew about the confluence being on their land but were keen to visit the spot again. The CP was just 280metres from their back door. As we neared the spot it started to rain so we quickly took the photos and scrambled back up the hill to the house. Kate told me that the spot that I took them to was some distance from the previous place she had marked. But because of the rain I didn't go looking for it.
