06-Aug-2002 -- We were visiting friends in Airdrie, Alberta, near Calgary. The four of us decided to find a confluence. This one is not far north of Airdrie so perfect for a short day's outing. It is a second visit to this confluence but shows the site in summer.

This confluence is near the junction of Township Road 352 and Range Road 10 near Innisfail which is on Highway 2, the north/south route between Edmonton and Calgary. The area is rolling farmland with a variety of crops, pastures, trees and well tended farms. We parked on a pull off near the junction of 352 and 10. From our van we had a barbed wire fence to cross and 136 meters to walk. One of the confluence visitors suffered a minor injury on the barbed wire and some blood was shed but never-the-less it was an easy walk to the spot. The confluence is in a pasture surrounded with barbed wire fence. A few wild flowers grow in the pasture. There were a lot of grasshoppers and quite an abundance of cow pies.

North of the confluence is a hill that provides a good view of the area. Purple thistle is in bloom along the crest of the hill. The overview photo of the confluence is taken from this hill. To the east is a farm where cows were mooing noisily. Around the perimeter of the pasture and fence were tall grasses, yellow and white sweet clover and shorter pink clover in bloom.

2.9 km south of the confluence on range Road 10 is the Bowden Correctional Institution (prison). We stopped to take a picture but a truck pulled up and we were told that no photos are allowed.

It was a cool day with spots of rain off and on. Despite the threatening rain we were able to find the confluence and have our picnic without getting wet.
