27-Jul-2019 --

The Club Nogales 4x4 decided to re-visit the first confluence point we conquered back on Sep 16th, 2006 (30N/112W) almost 13 years ago. So, we planned this trip a few weeks ago and decided to go again and compare the current condition of the desert versus today.

We got together early in the morning of Saturday July 27th with all our jeeps already checked perfectly and full of food supplies and beverages to withstand the summer desert weather, since our plan was to exactly copy what we did back then, which consisted in visit the confluence point, take all the pictures, and continue our trip to the Baja ocean all the way to Puerto Libertad.

We drove 175 Kms. from Nogales to Trincheras. From there, we took a dirt road driving straight almost to the confluence, this was another 80 Kms. Until a point where we had to leave our jeeps and started to walk for another 1.1 Km. to the confluence point. We took the official picture when we were less than 100 meters, and finally got there. Lying in the desert next to a saguaro was the original aluminum plaque we left there 9 years ago. This is shown in the pictures as well. The scenery was almost identical, that’s good news!

Finally took all the rest of the pictures and left for Puerto Libertad. Mission accomplished. This time, the team was formed by Sergio and Fernando Ulloa; Armando Arellano Sr. Armando Arellano Jr. and Yolanda Mercado; Oscar Cayeros, Jose H. Valdez and Juan Saldaña; Armando Pesqueira and Juan Carlos Hernandez; Jose Ma. Romero and Cristina L. Escalante; Luis and Fernando Zepeda; Javier Delgado and Oliver Gastelum; Heriberto Garay, Aracely Valdez and Tania Clavero; Emilio Garcia, Omar Lopez, Gabriel Meza and Pedro Galindo; Fernando Espinoza, Alberto Valdez and myself, Guillermo Terrazas.

Had an excellent trip, enjoyed the desert, the beach, the ocean and the good times all together. Our plan is to re-visit again the rest of the confluence points we conquered years ago and probably other points nearby.
