12-May-2002 -- We left Houston early Saturday morning on May 11, 2002, traveling west on the I-10 to San Antonio, then on Highway 90 to Del Rio. From Del Rio we travelled on the Highway 277 to Loma Alta, where we met up with Jim, the local store owner. Jim has lived in the area all of his life and is a fountain of knowledge of the local area and was able to put us in touch with the owner, who was able to grant us access to the land where the confluence is located.

We camped for the night in the Devil's River State Park area.

We then set off on our quest Sunday morning on May 12, 2002, to find the confluence spot. We had only been granted permission to enter the land on foot. Therefore a two mile hike each way lay ahead of us. The terrain itself was not difficult, since a rocky road led almost all the way to the confluence. Two miles across the Texas desert is still very challenging. The confluence was found to be located between two juniper trees, where we were able to get the necessary photographic documentation of our visit.
