18-Jun-2007 -- This was a toughie. I followed a logging road looking for the best spot. I could either go 3km below the point and hike up a TERRIBLY steep slope, or drive up and traverse 3km along the TERRIBLY steep slope. I chose the less elevation route and regretted it.

It was so steep you couldn't take a step without slipping. Bushwhacking through this dense slope meant I had to use my hands grabbing trees, plants and TONS of devils club (thank goodness for gloves). It took 10hrs to complete this hike, even though the line-of-site was a 6km round trip total. Had to cross 4 waterfalls which was incredibly slippery and dangerous, as well as shuffle along cliff sides.

Eventually I got high enough that there was some snow which helped, except for the times I would fall through into a boulder field and smash my knees. But I got there, battered and bruised, and eventually made it back. The view was glorious, and the town of Revelstoke nearby was a good place to rest afterwards.

The loggers on the active logging road weren't too happy to see me with my little ford focus, but after explaining my project, were very helpful.

If I were to try it again, I'd try the route that takes you vertically up directly. Tough elevation gain but you could follow a creek/waterfall to within 50m of the confluence point.
