24-Feb-2010 -- I knew that visiting this confluence would be easier than others, but I was still surprised to discover that you can actually drive to within 15 m from the confluence - in the winter, that is. A short walk in the snow, and there you are...standing at the confluence.
The confluence is near a winter access logging road called Luyben Mainline, 21 km from the intersection with Hwy 77 - also known as the Liard Highway, or the 317, as the locals call it (because it starts at mile 317 on the Alaska Highway).
Traffic on the logging road is radio controlled, so if you have a radio, tune in on 153.170 kHz and call in your position "loaded" as you drive towards the confluence, and "empty" when you return.
