04-Mar-2001 -- This is actually the closest confluence point to my home in Minden, LA (32.6 N 93.3 W), but it was the third one I visited. About eight miles ENE of Haynesville, LA, on LA 167, a gravel oilfield road turns south off the pavement. Well, you don't go that way, but it makes a good place to park. The confluence point is about a quarter mile north in a loblolly pine plantation. It hasn't been burned lately, so in places the understory is thick and contains a lot of smilax/greenbriar that makes for heavy going. The point is an area of little undergrowth with numerous medium height pine trees that make GPS readings problematic. After getting readings real close on all sides in a circle with a twenty foot radius, I just picked a spot in the middle and said "Okay, you're it."
