#1: Looking north into Alberta, Canada

(visited by Gordon Haverland, P.Eng.)

04-Aug-2001 -- This point may be 13.1 miles ENE of Whitlash, Liberty, MT; but the roads into the vicinity of the confluence all lead into Alberta. Much of the geography is dominated by the Milk River in this area and contributing streams. Not far from this confluence is "Writing on Stone" Provincial Park. To the best of my knowledge; this is the largest area of "hoodoo's" in western Canada and the largest area of aboriginal rock art on the Great Plains of North America.

The confluence itself appears to be in the middle of a farmer's field, next to a stream and quite close to a road. This point is almost directly north of the eastern-most extent of the Sweetgrass Hills of Montana.

At the GPS location 49 0' 0", 111 0' 0" we had UTM readings of 500000m Easting, 5427458m Northing and 1071m elevation.
