17-Jul-2008 -- My son (Pablo Grosse, geologist) and I (Constantino Grosse, physicist) decided to try to visit a confluence close to our hometown of San Miguel de Tucumán. We often go on endure motorcycle trips to the Puna region of NW Argentina, and we decided to try out the 27S67W confluence, which is fairly near a 4x4 track.

We first traveled to Corral Quemado by main roads where we stayed for the night. The next day, July 17, 2008, we rode on our motorcycles northwards along a 4x4 road that goes to the abandoned Culampajá gold mine. Just before reaching the 27S parallel we tried to get of the 4x4 track and ride westwards towards the confluence, but had to quickly desist due to very sandy and loose terrain. So we left our motorcycles and continued on foot. We walked for about one hour and a half, for a distance of around 3 km upslope until we reached the confluence.

Confluence 27S67W is located at an altitude of 3346 m on the northeastern flank of a small ridge, close to its summit region. We took the necessary photos, rested and returned to our motorcycles. We then continued north and visited the abandoned mine, before returning home.
