26-Jul-2012 -- 41N 107E. 17.4 km (10.8 miles) NW of Xamba,
Inner Mongolia, China. Complete visit.
We started our trip from Bayannur (a major
city of Inner Mongolia), our team include me (Sheng Ran, an animation director
from Beijing), my wife Fan Ling Na (Fashion designer work in Beijing), our
friends and cousins Zhang Ze Long, Wang Yu, and Zhang Ze Biao.
7:10am Beijing Time, after 1 hour car drive, we passed Hang-jin-hou-qi, a big town located at NW of Bayannur. Then we keep heading NW as we planned: follow the road I choose form Google Earth to get 41N 107E as close as we could. GPS shows we are 25 km distance from that CP.
7:50am, car heading on to a very narrow country road and we are surrounded by farmland: field of sunflowers, wheat and corns.
8:00am, country road became very rugged, we must slow down to avoid damage to our car, very careful and slow but still 9.5 km to go.
8:40am, the road is broken! Several days ago, heavy rain caused a deep ditch right over this country road, and our car could not cross it, we have to start walk from here. Now we are 4.5 km south from 41N 107E -- its a long way to walk.
9:10am, after 30min's walk under the burning sun and attacked by lots of mosquitoes, we met 3 local farmer working beside the road, and we are lucky enough to convince one of them give us a ride-- we pay 50 RMB and he drive his mini-van take us go north to that CP.
9:30am, GPS shows we are very close -- only 700 meters distance, jump out mini-van we rented and hitting road again!
9:58am, bypassing several ponds took us lot of time, but finally, in a harvested wheat field, GPS shows we captured 41N 107E in perfect zero!
We are so lucky that the wheat field had been harvested before we came, otherwise it will be almost impossible to walk in easily.
P.S. in May-2007, me and friends had visit
3 CPs of Liaoning province, China. They are 42N 123E, 41N 122E, and 41N 121E.
