04-Oct-2006 -- We drive to Wudan in half and a day with a team of 14 suvs Oct 1st. We want to cross the Horqin sand land in one or two days. Unfortunately, one of our Cherokee's water tank exploded of hot weather when we just get in the dunes 2 or 3 kilometers only. So we have to leave the team and camping to wait for salvage Oct 2nd. Oct 3rd, I drive another Cherokee out of the dunes and bring the maintenance man in. They install a new water tank and we go back to Wudan at about 20:00.
Oct 4th, we do our 2 Cherokees a check-up in the morning and go to 43°N 119°E. It is just a few miles from the town. A high level road almost lead us to the confluence. We drive off the road in about 500 meters away from the confluence and parking beside a field path only 50 meters away.
It is so easy to cross the path and a slot with no water and get to the confluence in a plane field. I turn on the WAAS and get every star working and take pictures.
