13-Dec-2008 -- On this nice December day I decided to take the motorcycle out and finally visit the confluence that lies nearest to the Capital of Sichuan province, Chengdu. 31N 104E lies a little more than an hour's ride from the big city, and lies just minutes away from the nearby town of Pengzhou. I didn't do any pre-planning for this confluence, but it was not very difficult to find in the end. It lies perhaps one or two kilometers from a main road, and from there one turns off to a one lane concrete road. The concrete road becomes a wide dirt path, and the dirt path becomes an even more narrow path. At last you are left on a footpath that led directly to the confluence point, just nearby a local peasant's large red gate. The winter weather today was quite mild, and we could even see shadows on the ground - evidence that a mysterious light was shining down on us through the usually foggy and hazy sky. The surrounding land is populated by farmers and a plethora of barnyard animals. Lovely on a sunny day, dreary on a foggy one. I'm happy things were so nice today.
