13-Oct-2007 -- We were on a week-long trip from Cairo to Kharga via the Farāfira Dunes, Darb al-Ṭawīl, Pink Panther Plateau, and finally the Madman's Pass. On an earlier trip - with Peter Gaballa, 'Sandy' Jorgensen, and Rick Gelderblom (see 27N 30E) we realised we had missed several confluence points - Rick should have known better! We decided to take a detour and make the visit to 26N 29E. A fairly easy approach from the North.

Upon arrival we found a small rock cairn with a message from a group of German hikers who had visited the point on a hike from Jabal Šāwšāw. All credit to them for being first! On their behalf we are posting the point on this site. We were going to try for another point on the way but unfortunately there was a mechanical problem with a car (Hi, Basil) which required a 250 km tow - something only a tricked-up Monster Land Cruiser Desert demon (Hi, Peter) could deliver. Lots of fun.
