11-Nov-2008 -- This is the 42nd of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 32N 36E.
We had been staying a couple of very pleasant days in Dhahab diving in the vicinity. Early this morning we left our hotel and our intention was to go to Mount Sinai and to see the Katharine monastery, but we took the wrong turnoff and got onto the road to Šarm al-Šaykh.
Once we noticed our mistake, we had driven already 50 km. We checked if there was a Confluence in the vicinity and decided to carry on and visit the Confluence instead of turning back.
At Šarm al-Šaykh we took the road leading to Suways (Suez). This road got us as close as 10 km to the Confluence. We turned off at one of the tracks leading into the desired direction and found after 5 km a track along a wādiy through a more difficult area and got his way as close as 1.7 km. The remaining distance we managed without any difficulties cross-country to the Confluence.
