22-Jul-2004 -- My friend Khaled and me started from Tromsø city 21:30 22nd of July in 22 degree celsius and sunshine and drove our car about 45 minutes to Skarsfjord on Ringvassøy. We left the car at the end of the road and followed a small river to the east against the Skogsfjord region. This is Khaleds favourite hunting region so he took the lead.
We walked about 2 hours until we reached 19 E. Kept then on straight north directed along 19 E by GPS. The sun was still shining, this being one of the last days with midnight sun this summer. A lot of sandflyes and moskitos in the air but as long as we kept a certain pace, they did not bother us.
We arrived at the confluence at 23:45. Tried to get a good picture of the GPS position, but did first succeed after 30 minutes. We were almost eaten opp by moskitos then. So we began to run as soon as we had the fotos in the box. Home in Tromsø again 03:00 in full sunshine. Pretty tired next day when back at work, Khaled was on duty for the next 24 hours at the medical dept. and wondered why we did all this!
