09-Jul-2007 -- Well, we were on a bit of a tourist expedition with our son and daughter, Jesper & Kristina, who are on holiday from their studies in Denmark accompanied by friends Marie-Louise and Sarah, first time visitors to Africa. We were six up in a Nissan Wolf double cab with a luggage trailer, planning to visit Great Zimbabwe Ruins and Chimanimani.
The road passes fairly close to two Confluences and we decided to visit them on foot leaving the trail bikes behind, we had used previously. We had driven from the farm south of Harare and were booked to stay at National Parks lodges by Lake Kyle. The main road passes a little dirt road that goes two km from the site. We turned up there fully loaded hoping the road wouldn't be too rough, it was ok.
When we were due east of the Confluence, we stopped the car and walked, but soon realised there was a little driveway going in that direction to a small rural home which, as it turned out, was only about 600 m from the Confluence. We walked across the almost dried up river bed and upstream a few hundred meters, walking on the solid granite on the west bank. The Confluence was on the bank right near a big tree, we reached it without difficulty.
