04-Oct-2008 --

The history of the visit to this confluence in fact has two chapters, first in the month of May, with three vehicles 4x4 and two Quads we left Tarija at 4:00 a.m. of Thursday 22 of May, and at just 50 kilometers we had to stop more than one hour by a landslide in the way. After they opened the way, we arrived at Entre Ríos and had breakfast, we continued trip but before arriving at Palos Blancos town one from Quads returned because a box fell from him. We looked for it without luck; with a quite important delay we could arrived at Cañitas where we made camping.

Our objective was to arrive at Negro River, place which we just arrived at noon from Friday, one of 4x4 had problems with a hit in a creek passage and we had to stop to fix it, meanwhile we sharpened the strategy to continue. We left behind the 4x4 and we followed by an animal track by a creek that would arrive at the plain of the Viray, but in the way we found a crossed tree, we tried to pass through a flank, the Quads passed, but although we were closely to pass, 4x4 did not obtain it.

Meanwhile the two Quads went ahead, losing communication by radio, we decided to continue walking; after walk one hour we met the Quads that were returning after seeing that it was impossible to arrive at the confluence because the mount was impenetrable.

We returned already at night to the place where we left one of 4x4, and seeing that it was impossible to conquer the confluence we decided to follow the expedition and we went to Villamontes, to go behind the confluence href="http://www.confluence.org/confluence.php?visitid=15032">21°S 63°W .

Nevertheless, all we felt frustrated by not to have managed to arrive our first goal, in almost all the meetings of the Club 4x4 Tarija we therefore talked on how arriving at the point. After some inquiries and with the help of the Google Earth, we found another alternative where we had to pass through a road under construction. We looked for a space of time in our activities and the day arrived, already was October.

With another course totally different, but with the same objective, we left Tarija at 9:00 p.m. of Friday 3 of October to get to sleep at Bermejo city, border with Argentina. On the following day we left Bermejo to 8:00 a.m. course to the northeast by a road that goes by the right margin of Grande River of Tarija. We passed without greater complication by sectors where the way is being just opened and around 1:00 p.m. we arrived at the place where we had seen in the satellite photos that we had to turn aside and going up by Viray creek. Track of vehicles existed, so we could advance approximately five kilometers very easily, we arrived at the place that we defined for camping that it is at just 820 meters from the confluence.

After a fast food, we prepared ourselves to enter the mount, nevertheless the mount was not as impenetrable as in the month of May and the long walk was relatively easy. We all proud to have managed to arrive at the objective we congratulated ourselves. We took the photos and returned to the camping to rest and to enjoy the nature; and now yes we had a good grilled meat extended by several hours until a small drizzle fell that forced to enter the carps to sleep.

On the following day after a stroll by the zone, we had lunch and we left Viray towards Tarija, a trip of more than 12 hours with many anecdotes like the spot of Rafo, Mario and his affection by the tick, the never ending songs of the cricket (Ivan’s Jeep), and all the stops in the way, without a doubt nobody will forget them.
