#1: Hat on the spot from the SW

(visited by Doug Thompson)

05-Jul-2007 -- This was the second confluence of the day and also this trip. We were travelling from Perth to Cape York and had allowed six days to Cairns. So I picked out some easy confluences to do on the way.

After we had a good shower at Tobermorey Station we headed towards the confluence about 30k up the road towards Urandangi. When we got to 22 South I saw a cattle grid 300 metre's further up the road. As we were still 2k west of the CP I thought that we might be able to follow the fence towards the border.

But the fence headed towards NE, so we turned away from the fence and headed straight towards the CP. Soon we started to cut across tracks in the grass that were heading the same way as us. Could they have been Eric Hare's tracks made nearly two years before?

When we got to the Border fence I found the lucky hole that Eric reported. I left my wife at the car, went through the hole and walked the 100 or so metres to the CP and took the photo's.
