06-Jan-2005 -- On route during our December holidays we visited confluence 31S 21E. This Confluence is on private land. We entered onto the farm and met the owner Johan Palmer. He graciously allowed us to visit the confluence point and invited us for a chat afterwards.

The name of the farm is Boesmanskolk. My interpretation of the name is as follows. It consist of two phrases namely "Boesman" and "kolk". The area in which the farm lies is known as the Bushmanland region of South Africa - thus the first phrase Boesman (Afrikaans for Bushman). The second phrase "kolk" refers to a whirlwind (small twister or Dust devil). These types of whirlwinds are very common in this dry/arid region. Many of the other farms are also called "something-kolk".

A white cross-like marker indicated the confluence point and the owner said that two groups of people had already been there to log the Confluence. We proceeded to Brandvlei (80 km NW) from the Confluence and spent the night in a guesthouse.
