#1: The Confluence from 10 m

(visited by Rainer Mautz)

26-Dec-2020 -- This is the second out of 8 confluence reports on our 11-day trip through the western part of South Africa. The story starts from at 33°S 19°E.

In the morning we started from Clanwilliam and first visited the Rock Art Trail, where you can see historic cave paintings. In the afternoon we continued to visit this confluence point.

The confluence is located on the “Kilipopmekaar Rooibos Farm & Private Nature Reserve”. It is necessary to first report to the farm management that you intent to enter the nature reserve. You can then actually drive to the confluence point. Nevertheless, we decided to have a pleasant walk through the reserve, parked our car in a distance of 900 m and reached our target on foot.

The confluence is on open hilly terrain with tussock. The ground is fine sand. As far as I remember, the road is around 70 m from the confluence point.

After the confluence visit, we continued northwards and spend the night in Springbok.
