25-Mar-2012 - The weather was on our side, so Silvia Lo Moro, Leandro Lema and Raine Golab decided to leave Esquel, Chubut Province, at 09.00 a.m. in pursuit of the confluence 47S 70W. We took national route 40 heading south to Perito Moreno town in Santa Cruz Province.

The next day we took paved route Nº 43 eastwards. About 120 km from route Nº 40, we turned south again, travelling another 80 km on route 39, very busy with trucks. There, a short detour took us on a 10 km trail to a ranch dressed up in fall colours, where young Joan Rojel Emmanuel received us cordially.

We invited him to join us and so he did; we climbed some hills covered with shrubs and at 13.16 h. on 25 March 2012, we marked the 47S 70W point. The walk took us not more than one hour and a half. After a snack we headed home, not without a quick visit to the River Pinturas and its Cave, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We thank Elsa Kuperman for the telephone numbers, and Joan for his kind attention.
