No dia seguinte, seguimos viagem.

25-Jul-2023 -- This narrative continues from 7S 38W.

After spending the night at Patos city, Paraíba state, we started our eleventh day of trip Tuesday, July 25, heading to 8S 38W confluence. We crossed interstate border, entering in Pernambuco state. We caught the access road to São João dos Leites village and then we started the small leg in dirt road, less than one kilometer long.

We headed by dirt road, in reasonable condition, up to stop the car 490 meters to the exact point. I won the remaining distance in an easy hiking, yet by the dirt road, which goes up to 160 meters to the confluence.

The previous visitor to this confluence had related that the owner of the house near the point hadn’t been friendly. Thinking about it, I made the final approaching by inside the forest, without approximating to the houses at both sides of the confluence. I arrived at the exact point without any contact with anyone.

We made all the way back and resumed our trip. We stopped to have lunch near Custódia city. As in the previous day, we faced an asphalt with bad condition, with puddles, in some legs.

We passed by Arcoverde and Garanhuns cities. We crossed new interstate border, entering in Alagoas state, we passed by União dos Palmares city, and faced a big traffic jam at Maceió city entrance, ending the trip after sunset. In this day, we travelled by about 610 kilometers.

At the following day, we went ahead. Our objective would be to arrive at Salvador and, on the way, to visit 10S 37W confluence, in Sergipe state. However, my family was tired due to the long trip, and, if we would visit the confluence, the day trip would end at night, maybe after 19:00. Then, I gave up of this confluence visit. This fact showed me that, although a big trip is a big opportunity to visit new confluences, when the trip is too big, as in the current case, the tiring turns an unfavorable factor to new confluence visits.

After deciding not to visit the last previewed confluence of this trip, we made a straight trip from Maceió, capital of Alagoas state, to Salvador, capital of Bahia state. We crossed an interstate border, entering in Sergipe state, and we stopped to have lunch at Estância city.

At the afternoon, we crossed other interstate border, entering in ninth and last state of Northeast Region of Brazil, the Bahia state. We arrived at Salvador early, after travelling, in this day, by about 580 kilometers.

We spent the following day resting and visiting the touristic attractions of Salvador city.

At the following day, when we would start our trip, I realized that one of the tires of the car was flat. I must change the wheel yet in the hotel garage. Then, I fixed it in a rubber shop in the city. We delayed the starting of our trip about one hour.

We passed by Feira de Santana city, we stopped to have lunch near Milagres city and end the last but one day of our trip in Vitória da Conquista city. It rained a lot in some periods of this day, for the first time in the whole trip. We travelled in this day by about 520 kilometers.

Finally, at fifteenth and last day of our trip, we started the day realizing that the tire that had been flat at the previous day wasn’t adequately fixed. It was a bit empty. We filled it before leaving Vitória da Conquista city.

We resumed our trip, crossed the last interstate border, entering in Minas Gerais state, and we stopped to have lunch between Salinas and Francisco Sá cities. When stopping, we realized that the tire was almost flat. We visited other rubber shop exactly at the place where we had lunch, and we fixed it again, which allowed us to arrive, without additional problems, at home.

We won the final leg and arrived home at the afternoon of Saturday, July 29. We travelled in this day by about 470 kilometers.

We travelled in this big trip by all states of Northeast Region of Brazil an amount of 6,377 kilometers. This was our third biggest trip by car until now. The first one remains that of January 2013, similar to the current one (but in opposite direction), 7,081 kilometers long, whose narrative starts at 6S 38W confluence visit. And the second one was that of July 2021, to the three states of South Region of Brazil, 6,486 kilometers long, whose narrative starts at 26S 50W confluence visit.

In relation to confluence visits, however, this trip was less productive than other two previously cited, with only three confluence visits. Although I had already cited some reasons I had travelled big legs of road without any confluence visits, in the three written narratives, the main fact is that I had already travelled several times by practically the whole Northeast Region of Brazil and, then, the easy access confluences are simply running out.

Before this trip, I had already 45 confluence visits in Northeast Region of Brazil. With these three new visits, one in Maranhão state, one in Paraíba state and one in Pernambuco state, I have now 48. That’s the second biggest amount of visits, after the Southeast Region, in which I have 69.
