(visited by Rudy Fuentes and Santah Fuentes)

07-Apr-2006 -- Day 2: At 7:00 AM Friday morning we left Boracay and went back to Caticlan. We had a good night sleep because we were so tired walking the long beach strip the previous night and it was amazing how this isolated island can have so much tourist people walking the beach and it was not even the peak days. The peak days will be during the Holy Week, which will be in 4 days. The beach is “sugar white” several kilometers long and it is probably the best beach in the world. I had been to Phuket, Thailand and its beach sand is a far second to that of Boracay. We took our pickup from the private park for 100 Pesos parking fee overnight and started the next leg of our journey for Patnongon, Antique. We took the less traveled western route through Pandan, Culasi and Bugasong and reached Tigrabayan, Patnongon, Antique at about 10:00 AM, After a quick survey along the coast, we found a boatman willing to bring us to the confluence area about 3.5 kilometers towards the China Sea for 500 Pesos. It was an easy find for 11N 122E but somehow I fouled up getting photos of GPS readings. I should have taken effort to verify that all of my shots were blurred probably because of wrong setting. After taking the obligatory shots we went back to the shore & resumed our journey towards Iloilo.

We could not resist stopping at historic Molo Church and had a quick prayer inside. We again traveled for Dumangas. My map was outdated because there is a faster way to get there using the Coastal Road without passing through the town of Zarraga. We reached Dumangas pier at 3:25 PM and waited an hour for the ferry trip to Bacolod at 4:40 PM. We arrived at Bacolod at 7:00 PM and after a quick lunch of “tinowang mamsa” we rushed again to Escalante town, which is about 95 kilometers away. The pier was so quiet & not one passenger soul when we reached the Danao pier at about 9:30 PM and I thought first it was the wrong pier. But when it was about 11:30 PM, when the ferryboat arrived, only then when I realized there were about 6 10-wheelers and a Ceres passenger bus, which must have known by heart the regularity of the boat schedule. The boat left at about 1:30 AM of Saturday.

This story continues to the next confluence visit to 11N 124E at Guadalupe, Bogo, Cebu.
