26-Feb-2006 -- I planned on visiting this location at the beginning of February - but after all was ready and set- I discovered my GPS is at my factory in Indonesia, thus we could only do a little country drive.
Today we took a Sunday cruise through Unseen Thailand with the ultimate goal of reaching this Confluence Point. We left home in Satahip just after 10h35 and drove all the way - a full 217 km of it along mostly the Bangkok-Chanthaburi Highway.
It took us four trials and errors to find a farm road leading us close to the CP. I expected we would walk about 2 Km. We reached the nearest point which was at a farm gate – 107 meters to go. I leaned on the horn, we called and tried all – but no farmer, no other human being – only a little dog. I decided it is so very near and I came from very far – thus I risked it and walked around the gate to our ultimate target. We reached there at 13h55.
Unfortunately my GPS does not show the Confluence point together with date and time on any page. Time for a replacement! This point is on a Black Pepper farm 55.3 Km (road way) North from Chanthaburi. When my GPS showed 6 meters it was right next to the farm road but then the GPS error changed to 8 meters which was just on the edge of the pepper plantation.
There are no other clearly visible features within 200 meters. The farm house (made from very beautiful natural wood) is the most distinguished feature and it is 92 meters from the Confluence Point. However this farmhouse is a real piece of art, all made from natural wood and trunks, cleaned and varnished. All in all; this farm does look very tidy.
On the way back we visited some nearby waterfalls and the nature park which was interesting but not really worth going out of the way for. We reached home just after sunset and considered it a very interesting Sunday drive.
