#1: From the point to North (the field of dunesand grass clumps)

(visited by John Guic, Sidi Mohamed Cheiguer and Yahya ould Nana)

04-May-2007 -- The point faces the Guelb Zefal which gives the name for the entire zone. There is no road at all to reach the point. The closest access is the track Fdérik-Choum going along the ore railway from Zouérate to Nouadhibou. The point remains at 27 km west from the railway station Touajil.

The track to Touajil is full of dunes and dry grass clumps. To reach the point from Touajil you must follow a kind of halfway flat and quite hard sand (reg), oriented northeast to southwest between the soft dunes. No clumps, so you can drive 60 km/h. You must let the rocky hills named Dra` el Kelba at your left hand. After about half an hour you see the Guelb Zefal. The point stands at 2.5 km from this Guelb.

It was 18:30 when we reached the point so you can see pictures of the sunset behind the Guelb Zefal. The point was visited by Sidi Mohamed Cheiguer, CEO of CID, an organization and management company acting for mining companies, Yahya ould Nana, and John Guic.
