  22°N 39°E (visit #2) (incomplete)

#1: Looking north-west towards the point, approximately 700 metres distant in the lagoon

(visited by Mark Hardaker, Richard Janczur and Grant Scroggie)

19-Nov-2009 -- We drove north from Jidda on the main Yanbu` highway, turning off at the Dhahbān turning towards the Durrat al-`Arūs resort. Just before reaching the resort itself, we turned off north, towards the confluence point.

Previous attempts to visit this point all ended incomplete, as the point is approximately 700 metres offshore in a lagoon, where access is restricted by the presence of properties owned by the Saudi royal family. We considered swimming to the point, armed with waterproof bags for our GPS devices and cameras but two local fishermen strongly advised against it and refused point blank to take us in their boat even the few minutes to the point.

We will however return to this one shortly.
