07-Dec-2002 -- The three of us visited the Confluence on the way back from visiting 22N 59E with Ian Barker.
The route was easy - about 40 km down a gravel track from `Ibriy (that appeared to be used as a shortcut for Abū Ẓaby locals to get into Oman), and then about 8 km across a gently undulating gravel plain.
As this is an oil exploration area, there are many traces of vehicular movement, but none within about 50 m of the Confluence.
This would be a very inhospitable place in summer, but was only 30°C this time.
