(visited by Ruba Husari and Muhammad Karim Kathem)

21-Apr-2012 -- The trip to the 32N 45E started from Baghdād at 7 a.m. with driver Muḥammad, heading southeast towards Kūt then south towards al-Ḥayy heading in the direction of the 32N 46E.

Once that first visit completed, we set off just after 10 a.m. towards al-Dīwāniyya on al-Fajr road. From the maps it was clear this was going to be an easy visit, with the confluence point just 300 meters from the main road. There was nothing scenic about the road except for the many closed rest houses used during the Shi`ite pilgrimage to Karbalā' and the many Ḥusayniyyas (Shi`ite mosques) along the 100 km or so towards Dīwāniyya.

Once in the proximity of the waypoint, we parked the car off the street under a palm tree in the yard of a nearby house and walked behind a row of half a dozen small modest houses in a dusty terrain, bare of anything except some dry shrubs and wild vegetation.

Pictures taken of GPS reading and four directions, as well as the two of us, we headed back for the two-hour drive home around noon. We arrived back in Baghdād at 2 p.m., before yet another afternoon sand storm. The visit to the two confluence points was indeed uneventful.
