18-Oct-2008 -- This is the 40th of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January at 11N 5E.

Story continues from 47N 15E.

It is 8 a.m. and after two days staying in Damascus, we are packing and leaving the town towards the town of Dar`ā near the border of Jordan.

When we spotted the turn-off sign towards Qāsim, we followed this road till Qāsim. At the roundabout at Qāsim all road signs are only in Arabic. We had to make enquiries which road will lead us towards Suwaysa. This road lead us as close as 400 meters to the Confluence.

We found a turnoff onto a small path leading us closer and parked the car. The remaining 50 meters we walked to the Confluence.

After completing all the necessary documentation, we returned to the highway and went to Buṣrā al-Šām where we visited the Roman ruins and the amphitheatre.

Continued at 32N 36E.
