#1: The confluence view

(visited by Shigeru Shimizu)

25-Nov-2005 -- I stayed at Taishaku-kyo quasi-national park last night. To the confluence, I drove my car and passed Shobara-city, and Hiwa-town via route 432. At Hiwa-town, I turned to east and then turn to north. My first target is the parting of mountain road. It is about 500m East from the confluence. I could easily find it, because there was an closed gate with the signboard, saying "No Trespassing without permission". I ignored it and passed the gate. I walked on the wide path to the second hairpin curve. To the point it was 280 meters away and 115 meters higher. There was a small mountain stream and I climb up it to the ridge. It was really steep, so it took more than 20 minutes. There was a trail on the ridge, and I followed it to the south, soon I reached the peak. The target is the middle of south hillside of the peak. The distance is 30 meters. Forest condition was good, so GPS operate well, and I could wandering easily.

The confluence was at the middle of really steep slope, so when I put my GPS on the ground carelessness, it roll down more than 15 meters.
