28-Oct-2007 -- In december 2006 I was winter sailing in Greece. we start our cold holiday trip from Athens and I prefer to sail to Aegean sea and visit confluence point 37°N 26°E. But unfortunately weather was not as good as well to reach this point so i have to reschedule this plan :-(
In March 2007 I start to plan an delivery trip with a sailing boat starting from Samos in Greece, passing the whole Aegean Sea, rounding Peloponisos, passing Ionian Sea, a short hop to Italy and then via Dubrovnik cross the Dalmatian Islands to Primosten in Croatia. Two weeks on a beautiful 46" boat with nice people!
At least we don't round Peloponisos, we decide to go via Korinthos Channel. But on the way we will pass at least four confluence points, two of them already unvisited!
Time passes and exactly at my birthday - 26th October - we arrive in Samos, curious at the boat and with the purpose to visit 37°N 26°E. Early in the morning of 28th October we leave Samos, direct heading the confluence point! But it was terrible, no wind so we have to go by engine, much slower than by sails, very bad suppositions to reach the point at daylight.
Very very close to sunset we reached the point, as you see on the pics weather was hazy and sight was not very good! But we did it in time and it was already again a great work of my first mate Alfred supported by Wolfgang to navigate me exactly to the point!
We take the pics and a break and then we celebrate again (see visit to 38N 21E) the successful visit with the small silver bottle filled with finest scotch whisky. This was passed in good old sailor's style on from skipper to every single crew member!
Later we restart our trip, because we have to master 13 days more and a lot of sea miles! 37°N 24°E was also on schedule, but weather was rainy and grey, so it was senseless to try it because it is nothing to see there, just water!
