#1: The confluence point lies in grassland, within the Pike-San Isabel National Forest. (This is also a view to the East.)

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

19-Jul-2021 -- After visiting [38,-106], most of the drive northwards to reach this point was straightforward, as US Highway 285 runs roughly along the 106 Degrees West line of longitude. I tripped up a little at the end, though, because - after turning left onto road 402 - I missed the turnoff to the dirt road that would take me directly to the point. Instead, I ended up at a dead end on another dirt road, 0.66 miles South of the point. Fortunately, the hike was quite easy - across three small ridges and four small creeks - although some hungry mosquitos tormented me along the way.

The point lies in open grassland, next to the dirt road that I had missed. Unfortunately, a rock cairn (with a geocache box) marks the point. The Buffalo Peaks are prominently visible to the West. To the East, about 1 mile away, lies the Campground of the Rockies - a private RV campground, where each campsite is privately owned.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
