#1: View of the area where the confluence point is located

(visited by Khong TuckKhoon)

04-Mar-2003 -- We have seen pictures of the earlier attempt. We arrived at the place around noon. It was easy to find the house beside the main road. The confluence was 200 meters over a small hill.

We then back track to a construction site. The low hill was blocked by a watery ditch. From there the confluence was 250 meters away. Upon enquiry, we came to know of a back way that would take us behind the hills.

Very quickly we found the trail and sure enough it back track to the confluence. We were able to get our offroad vehicle to a point 70 meters from the confluence.

From there, we started hiking through an abandoned rubber tree estate. It was badly filled with undergrowth. We did another 60 meters. The confluence was right in front down in a ravine. By now, the canopy was getting thicker and the foilage in front was getting thicker.

We felt that our chances of getting a good satellite fix for our GPS would be hampered.
