16-Sep-2006 -- At last warm fall days our team decided to put to sea in search of the CP. For that we leased the motor boat in a local traveling agency and then we bought the foodstuffs and took the fishing-tackle. We started our journey at the pier near Naberezhnaya [Embankment] and got going to the nice three-masts sailer which was at a anchor in the bay. It was training frigate "Nadezhda" [“Hope”]. It was famous after circumnavigation in 2003-04 dedicated to the First round-the-world expedition of Russian ships commanded by Ivan Kruzenshtern. The sailer of three thousand tons displacement reaches a speed of 13 knots and takes on board more than 150 passengers.

Our point located in the sea in Peter the Great Gulf at the entrance to Bosporus-East Strait. We turned round Tokarevsky cape and set course to Skryplev island – a bit of land the nearest to the point.

In half an hour we reached the small and rocky island, named after lieutenant commander Konstantin Skryplev. In 1862 he fulfilled the hydrographic survey in Peter the Great Gulf on the «Novik» corvette. There is the oldest lighthouse of Primorskiy Kray on Skryplev island. It was established in 1876. There were barracks and artillery crew on the island during the Second World War. Now 5 lighthouse workers live there.

Having passed the island, we navigated more 5 km towards Japan with a gull speed until we reached the cherished place. One can see Russkiy [Russian] and Skryplev islands and Basargin peninsula from here.

On the way back we visited Paris bay where we caught and tasted local delicatessen – fresh sea-urchins. Then behind the Balka cape, during 15 minutes we fished a plaice for our dinner using uncomplicated equipment (fish-line with 2 hooks).
