03-Aug-2014 – We were getting to the confluence from the center of Urzhum town. First, by the highway, then - by a country road, and then - there was a ford across Urzhumka river. There was possibility to get to the CP trough Sobakino village, but then we had to make a detour on the road of unknown quality.

The country road led us to well-organized ford across the river (for trucks, I suppose). Urzhumka is sufficiently wide and deep river, but here it comes across the rift, it becomes shallow and it was not more than half a meter in depth. However, its stream becomes fast enough.

Further on - there was a road through the field and meadow. Then there was a grove and steep descent into a ravine with nettles. At the bottom of the ravine there was a little stream, which we were able to jump over without getting our feet wet. And again – uphill guided by GPS navigator. Forest. After the forest there was a small clearing with traces of old ruts. Behind the clearing there were spruces, planted in rows. And the rows was directed across our course!

We could hardly pass through because of spruce branches entwined so hard. And it proceeded a few hundred meters up to our target.

The road back to the ford was slightly easier so it was possible to get to the confluence from the other side, and pass along the spruces rows uphill. And in about 200–300 meters from the beginning of the forest, there passed an old road, going down almost directly to the ford. Totally the way from Urzhum took us 4.5 - 5 hours.
