#1: Water. All around. And a little bit of land to the west far in the back.

(visited by Michael Woessner, Anja Köhne, Ralf Looser, Fred Bäuml and Anja Wiehler)

21-Jun-2010 -- In June we took a three week sailing boat trip to the Swedish archipelagos (Schären) starting on Rügen and going northwards.

We realized that 58 degrees latitude would be about as far north as we would get. From the map we found 58N 17E to be an interesting spot to choose as being the northern end of our journey and we decided to head there although wind did not directly support heading in this direction.

Since the point is on water there is not much to be told about landscape, flora and fauna. (Picture 1). But, at least there is plenty of water. Interestingly enough there had been another ship very close so we suspected we were not the only ones to visit this point at that day.

Anyway, it is fascinating to see the numbers on the GPS and once we about reached the point we decided to have a glass of Sherry and head back to Loftahammar, the nearest harbor.

Visiting a confluence point always is something special.

  Notes
In the Baltic Sea, about 8 km from the nearest skerry island. Some of them or even the mainland may be seen on a clear day towards west.
