#1: The Confluence

(visited by Ilia Yablonko, Artem Sismekov and Roman Churakov)

English Narrative

English Narrative

25-Mar-2006 -- The N58 E61 DCP was the closest point to Yekaterinburg city that was not yet visited. That was the reason why we had chosen that very point in that Saturday morning. The first part of our journey was made by car: about 200 kilometers following the route Yekaterinburg city – Nizhniy Tagil (Lower Tagil) city – Verkhnyaya Salda (Upper Salda) town – Nizhnyaya Salda (Lower Salda) town – Vstryecha (The Meeting Place) railway station.

The second part of the journey was to be made by skies. There was about 5 kilometers from Vstryecha station to the DCP. We put on our tourist skies and got off to the forest walk. At first we went along railway embankment, afterwards – upon the wide cutting in the forest running in the north-eastern direction. The weather was marvelous. Snow was melting. The point lies near the cutting. It seems that it is not too hard to reach this point in summer also. We had taken all necessary photos and took our way back following in our own tracks. We hoped to visit the neighbouring DCP that very day – 58°N 60°E.

Artyom Sismekov

P.S. It was the second DCP that we conquered by skies for Ilia and me, and the first for Roman.
