17-Aug-2005 -- Visiting Lundörrsfjällen again, this time with veteran midwinter skier Christer Rosell. We used to do some real cold or stormy midwinter tours in these mountains in the 70's. Usually we didn't see much of the landscape due to darkness, snowdrift or fog on the glasses. We have spent some 20 nights in snowdrifts in the area, some times fighting erosion, that is, the drift was blowing away due to changed wind direction or increasing wind.
This time we walked in the late summer's good weather. One day we were stuck in the tents due to rain and wind, though. Five days with sun and bathing conditions. Three peaks climbed, including the highest, 1526 m, which is located about 3 km south of the confluence.
We passed the confluence point on 17th August, took the same pictures as usual, but now including Christer standing just south of the indicated point.
Christer remembered a bit more than me from our 1977-1978 skiing trip in the area. I then led the group north in the Storådörren valley. We easily found the place where we had dug our cave in the snow. The second night it was enlarged to 8 metres in length. One of the group members had a bad sleeping bag, resulting in an insulation of only four layers of nylon. The down had gathered in clumps at a few places, despite it was brand new at the start of that tour. He and I then left the group, because we should be two people skiing together and because I was booked on an earlier train. The next few days Christer and a few others had gone on ski-climbing tours to the nearest peaks. They had probably been skiing right across the confluence point back in January 1978.
