05-Aug-2021 -- This is the second of 10 CP visits made during a 2 week trip to Sweden.
The previous is N61 E16.
The next is N63 E17.
A few days has passed since our last CP visit. We travelled north, past N62 E17 (not possible for
us to visit as it was in the middle of a lake and had only been visited in winter on the frozen ice -
more on this later !!).
We had been hoping to drive to within 60m of this CP but about 3km
from the CP we came across a barrier (N63.00895 E18.045). It was a gorgeous day, only 3km and the route went along the
side of a lake so we decided to hike to the CP. And it was worth it !! A great hike, beautiful scenery
and some nice lakeside houses to look at.
The CP was about 60m from the road, slightly up hill and easy to get to. After the usual photos we
started to hike back and were past by car towing a trailor with canoes on it. The driver asked about
our hike and I tried to explain that we had visited a confluence point and what that was.
He either didn't
understand or thought we were mad, driving off without further comment.
The hike back was as pleasant as the hike there. The barrier by this time was open but it didn't
matter - the hike had been great.
This was only the second visit of this CP and the first for 20 years so it was satisfying to get to
this rarely visited CP.
