During a two week road-trip through Iceland together with a friend of mine, I took the chance to visit the some confluence points.
To reach the confluence point 64N-17W you just need to walk through a dry riverbed. This became clear after reading the maps and some reports from previous visitors. After leaving the Suðurlandsvegur 1, it is possible to drive upon a embankment for about 1.7 km and park the car there. The two km long way by foot leads over a rough riverbed with lots of pebbles and stones. Some of them were broken by the force of nature. Due to the differences of temperature und the time, these stones are fragmented into pieces and lying like this at the same place since many years, see picture #9 and picture #10. The differences of altitude in the riverbed was about two meters. At the exact confluence point, only about 50 m away from the river Morsà, I could take the necessary images. Direction northeast some houses of the Skaftafell settlement could be seen. To the east and west the huge glacier tongues of the Vatnajökull were visible. In the photo to the south you can hardly recognize the large bridge Skeiðarárbrù of the ring road.
This visit was my fifth visit of a confluence point in Iceland. It was an easy and uncomplicated visit.
