19-Jul-2004 -- We visited this confluence on our way across Sprengisandur and the highland from west to east to Askja. We did not want to take the shortest route, "Eyfirðingaleið" over Blanda and other rivers as the waters on the north of Hofsjökull are very "moody" and we were traveling alone so we approached it from the north. That means that we had to walk more than 15km from Skiptabakki and back the same way. We doubt that we had done that if we had known that the point had already been visited. But it was enjoyable all the same. On our forward trip we had to cross (among others) Hnjúkakvísl that was nearly dry the week before but was over the knees when we crossed it. (see picture)
