25-Jul-2005 -- We started from Tärnaby with a little sunshine at 9.15. When taking the road to Ammarnäs in Sorsele, the sky sent us heavy rainfall. 15 km before Ammarnäs the road turned into a gravel path (because of road works), causing a nice new greyscales colour for our car. From Ammarnäs we followed the gravel road for about 8 km to a parking area (4.7 km southeast of the CP) near the lake Tjulträsket, where a footpath starts to reach the mountain Gaisatj.
The weather settled and it stopped raining, so we started our hike at 13.00. We followed the path up to an altitude of 800 m where we left in north-western direction to the CP, 2.7 km away.
Some boggy passages caused some loop ways and wet feet, but pushed by the mosquitoes we reached our destination just 1.5 hours after leaving the car. Only a few last raindrops on the plateau (ca 1.000 m above sea level) tarnished the view for the CP photos.
On our way back with a short trip to the mountain Gaisatj we were accompanied by excited and eagerly whistling Golden Plovers, trying to get our attention and leading us away from their nests.
We reached our car at 16.30 and after drying our feet and counting the mosquito bites in the warm and sunny afternoon I must confess, that all in all it was a truly enjoyable mountain hike. The colours of the evening light in the valley of the river Vindelälven encouraged this pleasant impression. And – it was Michaels first (complete) CP visit!
