03-Jan-2006 -- We were on our way back to Abuja from a one-week trip to Gashaka Gumti National Park, which is the largest national park in Nigeria, covering 6,670 km2 of the mountainous region of Taraba and Adamawa States.

After taking down tents and packing the cars at Mayo Camp we had an early start at 6 a.m. We took the road from Serti to Mutum Biyu and at 9 a.m. we were close to the Confluence, which we found in a field of high grass right next to the road. Our time was very limited as our drive was going to take between 10 and 12 hours, so we took the necessary photos and carried on.

We arrived in Abuja at 8 p.m. longing for a cold beer/Gin Tonic, and a comfortable bed.
